Memes only

You cannot type a message here. That is the whole point: everything is a meme, so everything is a bit of a joke.

It also means a meme is the only thing you can hurt someone with. Pick better ones.

Not welcome, ever

• Anything sexual involving a minor. This one ends the account and gets reported onward.
• Hate aimed at who someone is — race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability.
• Harassment, pile-ons, threats, or sending someone memes after they blocked you.
• Nudity and porn. Memish is a sticker book, not that.
• Real violence and gore played for laughs.
• Doxxing: someone’s address, number, workplace or private photos.
• Scams, spam, and accounts pretending to be someone else.

Every meme is screened before it can go public

This is not an honour system. The moment you build a meme or pick a GIF it is screened automatically — the picture and the words on it both go to OpenAI’s moderation service, and the privacy policy spells out exactly what that sends. It runs again when you post one.

Nothing reaches the public side of Memish without a clean verdict: trending, community search and public profiles only ever show memes that passed. A private chat is the one place a meme can reach somebody while its check is still running, which is usually about a second — and if the check then flags it, it is pulled out of every chat it got to.

A meme it flags goes no further, and that includes the memer who made it. It cannot go public, cannot be sent into a chat, cannot be saved or reacted to. You still see it in your own library, with the reason. If the check cannot run at all, the meme stays unpublished until one goes through.

The check is a machine, so it misses things a person would catch, and it sometimes catches things a person would not. That is what the rest of this page is for.

Other people are in your memes

A photo of a friend can be a great meme and a bad day for them. If they would not want it public, keep it in the chat — or do not send it.

Never post someone’s private photo, screenshot or message as a meme without asking.

Reporting and blocking

Tap ⋯ on a memer’s profile, or tap a meme in a chat, and pick report. Choose a reason, add a note if you want, and "also block them" is ticked for you.

Blocking is instant and mutual in effect: neither of you can send to the other, and the thread stops.

What happens after a report

A person reads it. The automatic check is only the first pass; this is the one that weighs context, history and who is aiming what at whom. Memes that break these rules come down, and accounts that keep breaking them lose features or get removed.

We act on every report within 24 hours — the meme comes down and, where it is warranted, the account goes with it. Reports about a minor’s safety jump the queue and are escalated onward.

If we got it wrong

Removals are judgement calls and judgement calls miss. Write to support and a human will look again.
