Memish

Terms of service

The deal between you and Memish, in language a human can read.

The short version

Memish is a chat app where the only thing you can send is a meme. No text messages, ever. Use Memish and you agree to what is on this page.

If something here does not work for you, the honest answer is to not use the app — and to tell us why, so the next version is better.

Who you are agreeing with

Memish is published by GBEC, LLC. "We" and "us" on this page mean that company.

Anything on this page you want to ask about goes to contact@memish.app, and a person answers.

Who can use Memish

You need to be at least 13, and old enough where you live to agree to terms on your own. If you are not, ask someone who is.

One person, one account. Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not use a handle to impersonate a real person or brand.

Your account

You sign in with your phone number and pick a handle. Anything sent from your account is treated as sent by you, so keep your phone locked and your number yours.

Handles are first come, first served, and we can take one back if it is used to impersonate someone or to dodge a ban.

The memes you post

Your memes stay yours. You give Memish permission to store them and show them to the people you send them to — and to everyone in the app, if you mark one public.

Only post what you have the right to post. Someone else’s photo, art or private screenshot is not yours to send around.

You also agree that every meme goes through the automated safety check — the picture included — and that nothing you make goes public until it has passed. The privacy policy says exactly what that sends and where, and there is no way to opt out of it.

What gets a meme or an account removed

Memish is user-generated from top to bottom, and the rules for what belongs here live in the community guidelines. Breaking them can cost you a meme, a feature, or the account.

Memes are screened automatically before they can go public, a flagged one is pulled out of the chats it reached as well, and anyone can report a meme or a memer on top of that. Blocking is instant and works both ways, and we review reports by hand.

Paying for Memish Pro

Memish is free. Memish Pro is an optional subscription, and today it does exactly one thing: it takes the “memish.app” watermark off the memes you make. If that list ever grows, this page grows with it.

Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. The price is shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency, and Apple charges it to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.

It renews on its own at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that period ends. Cancelling stops the next charge and nothing else — Pro keeps working until the period you already paid for runs out.

Cancelling happens in your Apple ID settings, not inside Memish, and we cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf. Refunds are Apple’s to give too, so a refund request goes to them rather than to us.

Ending it

You can stop using Memish whenever you like — log out from settings and that is that.

Or delete the account outright: settings has a delete button that really deletes. Your profile, your memes, the memes you sent and the account itself go, on the spot, with no undo.

One thing deleting does not do is cancel Memish Pro. That subscription lives with Apple rather than with us, so cancel it in your Apple ID settings before you delete the account — otherwise the charges carry on for an account that is already gone.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the guidelines.

No promises

Memish is provided as is. It is a meme app built by a small team: it can be down, it can lose a draft, it can get a search result wrong. Do not rely on it for anything that matters.

We do not promise the app will always exist, or that a meme you sent will be there forever. To the extent the law where you live allows it, that is the limit of what we owe you.

If something goes wrong between us

Write to contact@memish.app first. Nearly everything gets sorted that way, and it is faster than anything else on offer.

Anything that has to go further is handled under the law of the place where GBEC, LLC is established, and nothing here takes away a right your local law gives you.

Changes

These terms change as the app changes. The date at the foot of this page is when this version took effect, and carrying on using Memish after a change means the new version applies to you.

Memish is made by GBEC, LLC.
